It is an unusual record of the earth-boring dung beetle from Gautala-Autramghat Wildlife Sanctuary (GAWLS), Jalgaon, Maharashtra, India. The description of the female adult with images and distribution map of the P. orientalis are provided. In an effort to stabilize the specific epithet and to fix the taxonomic status of this rare species, a neotype is designated.
